Manuel Ramirez Sentenced to 27 Years for Attempted Murder

Victim Fears for Safety as Ramirez Receives Prison Sentence

by Amelia Crawford

Manuel Ramirez has been sentenced to 27 years to life in state prison for the attempted murder of his estranged wife, following a domestic violence incident in Clovis.

The victim, who remains fearful for her safety, shared a powerful message in court, recounting how Ramirez shot her in the head after a violent beating on February 13, 2024. The assault was witnessed by their young daughter, just five years old at the time.

During the tense standoff, Ramirez was arrested by Fresno police after a dramatic SWAT team intervention. In court, he pled no contest to the charges, taking full responsibility for his actions, and apologizing to his victim.

However, the victim’s letter to the court revealed years of emotional and physical abuse. She expressed feeling trapped and constantly afraid of him, knowing he could reach her and her family wherever they were.

Ramirez’s stepfather, Brandon Stebbins, claimed the violence was out of character, calling him a loving and caring individual, but the victim’s letter painted a much darker picture.

After hearing both sides, Judge William Terrence sentenced Ramirez to 27 years to life, acknowledging the unthinkable impact on both families.

The judge also issued a new protective order for the victim, prohibiting Ramirez from contacting her or their daughter, offering a small measure of security in the face of ongoing fear.
