In a rapid response to a recent vehicle theft complaint, Dispur Police arrested 18-year-old Mansur Hussain in connection with a stolen two-wheeler under Dispur Police Station Case No. 425/2025, registered under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Hussain, a resident of Indrapur near the TV Tower locality in Bhangagarh, was found in possession of a black Honda Activa scooty (Registration No. AS 01 BW 1749) that had gone missing earlier this month. Police tracked the suspect through credible leads and successfully recovered the vehicle.
In a related development from March 31, Guwahati Police dismantled a truck theft racket operating in the city and arrested eight suspects: Nur Hussain, Rashidul Alam, Maidul Islam, Ainul Haque, Najrul Islam, Pankaj Yadav, Sanjeev Kumar, and Ranbir Arora.
The gang allegedly stole a parked truck in broad daylight using a crane and sold its parts at a scrapyard in 13 Mile. During a raid based on intelligence, police recovered the dismantled truck by identifying it through the engine number. The scrapyard owner has also been taken into custody for alleged involvement.
Both cases highlight the proactive efforts by Guwahati Police to clamp down on vehicle theft and illegal scrapping operations across the region. Investigations into the broader network of these criminal activities are ongoing.
