In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Mankapur Police successfully arrested three individuals and seized MD (Mephedrone) drugs valued at approximately Rs4.24 lakh.
The operation followed an intelligence tip-off about individuals traveling from Wardha to Nagpur to purchase drugs. Acting swiftly on this information, the police launched a raid near Lumbini Buddha Vihar in Mankapur and apprehended Wasim Ahmed Khan Pathan and Kartik alias Jonga Rajusing Bilwal, who were found under suspicious circumstances. A search of the suspects led to the recovery of Rs75,000 in cash.
During questioning, the suspects admitted that they had traveled from Wardha to Nagpur to buy the drugs. Following this lead, police traced the local drug supplier, Ayush Amrit Meshram, a known MD supplier from Nagpur. Using the suspects’ mobile phones, the police lured Meshram to the designated spot.
As soon as Meshram arrived with the MD drugs, he was immediately arrested by the waiting police team. A total of 20 grams of MD drugs, worth around Rs2 lakh, were seized from him. The total haul from the operation included cash, two two-wheelers, mobile phones, and narcotics, adding up to a total value of Rs4.24 lakh.
This successful operation has been hailed as a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against narcotics in Nagpur and surrounding areas. Mankapur Police’s strategic action continues to reinforce the city’s commitment to curbing drug-related crimes.
