In an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, Mankachar Police arrested three drug smugglers in separate operations on Sunday night in Assam’s South Salmara-Mankachar district, seizing Yaba tablets and suspected heroin.
The first operation led to the arrest of two individuals, Ahmed Hussain (35) and Idrish Ali (18) from Chomrashali village, at the Mirjumla checkpoint under Mankachar Police Station. Based on reliable intelligence, police intercepted their motorcycle and seized five packets of Yaba tablets weighing 123 grams.

In a second operation, police apprehended Rabibul Islam (22) during a naka checking at Mirkamari and recovered 12 grams of suspected heroin from his possession.
“Following credible input about heroin being smuggled from Kukurmara towards Mankachar, we launched an operation and set up a naka. During the search, we recovered a soap case containing heroin. The co-accused, Saif Hussain, managed to escape during the search,” said Dipak Bargayari, Officer-in-Charge of Mankachar Police Station.
