Gaya: Manish Manjhi, an employee of the Gaya Municipal Corporation (GMC), was abducted and killed late Saturday evening in the Delha police station area of the town.

Delha police station SHO Dev Raj Indra confirmed the killing and said four people have been arrested in connection with the case. An FIR has been lodged.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Vakil Manjhi, Vicky Manjhi, Babloo Manjhi, and Vikas Manjhi. Vakil Manjhi is reportedly the brother-in-law of the deceased.

Police suspect that an old enmity is behind the killing. Local sources suggest the motive may relate to a past love marriage between the alleged killer’s sister and the victim’s brother, but police are still investigating whether it qualifies as an honour killing. SHO Indra stated the love marriage occurred several years ago and was not inter-caste, weakening the honour killing theory.

Manish’s brother told reporters that the hatred from his wife’s brother following the marriage likely fueled the murder.

The investigation remains ongoing.
