In a major crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, Dholai police seized over 1.3 kilograms of heroin and arrested two youths from Manipur near the Sadagram-Saptagram border under Dhalai police jurisdiction.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Dholai OC Kulendra Huzuri intercepted a car near Panisagar bridge on NH-306 (Silchar-Aizawl Road). A thorough search revealed 99 soap cases filled with heroin hidden in concealed compartments.

The arrested, Michael and Marina, both from Churachandpur district of Manipur, were traveling with Marina accompanied by a two-year-old child. Preliminary investigations suggest the heroin’s market value runs into several crores internationally.

Police believe the drugs were smuggled from Churachandpur through Mizoram, destined for locations across Assam. Prior intelligence had indicated increased narcotics movement along this route, prompting enhanced surveillance in border areas.
