Manipur Police Arrest Sapam Mick Singh in Vehicle Theft

27 detained in vehicle lifting cases, stolen car recovered

In a major crackdown on motor vehicle offences, Manipur Police detained 27 individuals involved in various vehicle lifting cases and recovered a stolen car on Sunday.

The police identified one key vehicle lifter as Sapam Mick Singh (27) from Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai near the Manipur Legislative Assembly. Singh was arrested at Kombirei Housing Complex, Lamphelpat, Imphal West, and a stolen Hyundai i20 was recovered following his detention.

A criminal case has been registered against him under Sections 112, 303, and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

In a wider enforcement operation, 22 people were detained for traffic violations, including driving without registration certificates (RCs) or number plates. Additionally, four more suspects were held at checkpoints in different districts as part of anti-insurgency measures.

During the operation, authorities issued 79 challans, collecting fines totaling Rs. 1,41,000 to reinforce traffic discipline in the state.
