In a continued crackdown on vehicle theft, Manipur Police arrested a vehicle-lifter and recovered a stolen bike worth Rs 1.6 lakh on Tuesday.
The arrested individual, Phundreimayum Dawad Khan (24), hails from Sangaiyumpham Part-I, Puleipokpi Salam Macha under Yairipok Police Station, Thoubal district. He was apprehended at Phoudel Oil Pump within the Yairipok jurisdiction. A red Royal Enfield Classic 350 without registration was seized from his possession.
On the same day, the police issued 33 challans to traffic violators, collecting fines totaling Rs 61,500, and removed tinted films from four vehicles.
Authorities ensured the secure movement of 348 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 (Imphal to Silchar route). To strengthen safety measures, 115 nakas/checkpoints were set up across hill and valley districts, and security convoys were deployed along sensitive routes.
