On September 25, 2025, Manipur Police conducted a major drug bust in the Imphal East district, arresting 38-year-old Meisnam Geetchandra from Khurai Sajor Leikai under Porompat police station jurisdiction. The operation was carried out with the support of a local civil society organisation.
Authorities recovered a substantial quantity of narcotics, including 23,304 Tramadol tablets, 1,390 Nitrapal tablets, and 1,383 bottles of Bercodex syrup. This seizure is considered a major breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to curb the illegal drug trade in the state.
The accused has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the source and network behind the illicit substances.
