Security forces in Manipur arrested 26-year-old Makakmayum Firdos Sharif from Imphal East district on July 17, following the seizure of a large quantity of suspected WY tablets valued at around Rs24 lakh.
The arrest occurred during a routine vehicle inspection at the T. Khullen Naka Checkpoint in Senapati district. Authorities found 29,974 WY tablets carefully packed in 150 packets inside the Hyundai i20 vehicle driven by Sharif.
Along with the drugs, officials confiscated the vehicle, its registration documents, an Apple iPhone, and Sharif’s Aadhaar and Voter ID cards.
Currently under interrogation, Sharif is suspected to be part of a broader drug distribution network in the region. The seized tablets and related items have been secured for further investigation by the authorities.
