In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Manipur police arrested ten suspects in two separate raids targeting drug trafficking and illegal poppy cultivation in Kangpokpi district.
The first operation, conducted under a case registered at Kangpokpi police station, led to the arrest of six drug traffickers: Khaikahao Kipgen alias John, Letgoumang Touthang alias Amon, Aabi Baral, Jitten Kharka, L H Ranirou, and Leah Chao. Authorities seized 174 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar and confiscated a four-wheeler during the raid.
In a separate operation against illegal poppy cultivation at Songjang village along IT Road, four more individuals were apprehended: Janggoulen Kipgen, Letginlal Kipgen, Kamginlen Kipgen, and Thangminlen Kipgen.
All ten detainees have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further investigation and legal action.
Earlier this year, authorities destroyed 4.8 hectares of illicit poppy cultivation in Senapati district, intensifying efforts against narcotics in the region.
