A 29-year-old man, Khuraijam Davish Singh, was arrested for stabbing a 41-year-old Manipuri housewife, Ningthoujam Bebe Devi, with scissors at the busy Paona Bazaar in Imphal City.
According to the police report released Monday, Singh, a resident of Sagolband Salam Leikai, Imphal West, was apprehended near Ibohal Cycle at Paona Bazaar, where he had attacked Bebe by piercing her neck with a pair of scissors.
The injured woman, wife of Ningthoujam Kenedy Singh from Khongjom Papal Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district, was immediately taken to Raj Medicity Hospital, Imphal, where she received medical treatment.
The attack reportedly occurred around 10 a.m. on Sunday following a quarrel between the two. Police and mobile forensic experts arrived at the scene, where the scissors used in the assault were recovered.
The City Police Station registered a suo motu case and filed an FIR regarding the incident. Singh was produced before the Duty Magistrate Court in Imphal West and remanded in police custody until May 7.
