Manipal Police Nab Two in Motorcycle Theft Case

Habitual offenders caught within 11 hours

The Manipal police successfully solved a motorcycle theft case within 11 hours of the complaint being filed, arresting two habitual offenders.

On February 21, Sudarshan parked his Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (registration KA-20-ED-6912) near Veera Maruti Bhajana Mandir in Rahulnagar, 80 Badagubettu village, under Manipal police limits. When he returned from work, the motorcycle had gone missing.

The complainant lodged a report at the Manipal Police Station on February 23 at 8 am.

Quick Action by Police

A case was registered under Crime No. 28/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Acting swiftly, police traced and arrested the accused within 11 hours of filing the case.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

Sharath (26), resident of Netajinagar, 80 Badagubettu village, Udupi taluk

Ganesh (31), resident of Netajinagar, 80 Badagubettu village, Udupi taluk

The stolen Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle was recovered from their possession. Both accused were produced before the jurisdictional court and remanded to judicial custody.

Criminal History

Police noted that both Sharath and Ganesh are habitual offenders, linked to over 11 theft cases registered across Manipal, Udupi Town, Bhadravati, Koppa, Thirthahalli, Madikeri, and Tumakuru Extension police stations. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether the duo has committed additional thefts in the region.
