Mangaluru Police Nab Mohammed Sharif’s Gold Theft Suspects

Two Arrested, Rs 27 Lakh Recovered in Major Theft Case

Mangaluru: Bajpe police have successfully arrested two individuals involved in a high-value theft at Kenjaru Jokatte, recovering gold, cash, and a scooter worth nearly Rs 27 lakh.

The incident occurred on September 23 last year when Mohammed Sharif had gone to Kalavaru to attend a relative’s mehendi ceremony. During the night, thieves broke into his house, stealing gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 23 lakh and cash totaling Rs 1.3 lakh. A case was promptly registered at Bajpe police station under sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305 of BNS.

City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy stated that the investigation revealed Abdul Nasar, also known as Nasir or Nachi, 31, a resident near Kalavaru and currently renting a house in Bajpe, had committed the theft and fled abroad. A look-out circular (LOC) was issued to trace him.

Following his apprehension and interrogation, Nasir confessed that he had carried out the theft along with the complainant’s relative, Mayyaddi Imran of Kalavaru. Police recovered 222 grams of gold ornaments valued at around Rs 27 lakh, Rs 20,000 in cash, and a scooter worth approximately Rs 50,000.

The accused were produced before the jurisdictional court and have been remanded to judicial custody.
