In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Mangaluru’s City Crime Branch (CCB) police have successfully arrested two individuals involved in the illegal sale of MDMA, a banned narcotic. The police operation led to the seizure of 23 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs 1,15,000, in addition to two mobile phones and a Suzuki scooter, with the total value of the confiscated goods amounting to approximately Rs 2,10,000.

The accused have been identified as Sheikh Sikander (22) from Kalaburgi and Mohammad Tawfiq (29) from Mangaluru. According to the police, Sikander had sourced the drugs in Mumbai, transported them to Mangaluru via Kalaburgi, and sold them to Tawfiq. Tawfiq, in turn, was distributing the MDMA, targeting students and the general public for illegal financial gain.

The police operation took place under the jurisdiction of Kavoor police, where the accused were apprehended while selling the drugs. Sikander, who has a history of criminal involvement, including a previous murder case, and Tawfiq now face multiple charges. Authorities suspect a wider drug network is operating in the region, and investigations are continuing.

The operation was led by Police Inspector Rafique K M, with support from ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, PSI Sharanappa Bhandari, ASI Sujan Shetty, and the CCB team.
