In a significant breakthrough, the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested Shameer P K (42), a major drug supplier from Kerala, for trafficking hydroponic marijuana from Goa to Mangaluru and Kerala. The authorities seized 738 grams of this high-value drug, worth Rs73 lakh, alongside other assets in the operation.
Acting on a tip-off about a car transporting illegal drugs along the Bappanadu National Highway, the police intercepted the vehicle. Upon searching, they found the hydroponic marijuana hidden in the car, along with a red Hyundai (registration number: KL-76-B-2296) and a mobile phone used for coordinating the trafficking activities.
The total value of the seized items is estimated to be Rs80.1 lakh. Preliminary investigations suggest the marijuana was smuggled into the country from abroad. A case has been filed at the Mulki Police Station.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, IPS, and Deputy Police Commissioners Siddharth Goyal, IPS, and K. Ravishankar, KSPS. CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik led the operation, which aims to intensify the crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
