In a major operation by the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB), police arrested three members of a gang involved in trafficking MDMA from Bengaluru to drug peddlers in Mangaluru.

The arrested accused are Ahmed Shabith (35) from Mallur, Mangaluru, Mohammed Shamsheer (36) from Perli, Bantwal, and Nausheen (27) from Sarapady.

On December 13, CCB officers intercepted a car near Arkula and detained Shabith and his associates. During the operation, police seized 90 grams of MDMA, the car used for transport, and mobile phones.

Investigations revealed that Ahmed Shabith had been regularly procuring MDMA from Bengaluru and distributing it locally. The gang employed Nausheen to transport the drugs, likely to avoid suspicion. Acting on intelligence, the CCB unit successfully arrested the trio.

The accused have been produced before court and remanded to judicial custody. A case has been registered at the Kankanady City Police Station, and further investigations are ongoing, said City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, CH.
