Mangaluru East Police have arrested 26-year-old Mohammad Sharif from Falnir, Mangaluru, for allegedly attempting to murder Mohan Das Shetty, 56, following a dispute over a land deal.

Police reports indicate that Sharif and his father, Mohammad Iqbal, had a financial disagreement with Shetty regarding properties in Kana, Surathkal, and Vamanjoor, with an alleged investment of around Rs 2 crore. Sharif suspected that the complainant had cheated him in the transaction.

On Wednesday morning, the accused reportedly met Shetty near Arya Samaj Road under the pretext of discussion and allegedly snatched his mobile phone. Later, when Shetty was riding his two-wheeler, Sharif allegedly drove his SUV at high speed and rammed into it from behind in an attempt to kill him.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru East Police Station, and the accused will be produced before the court. Police continue their investigation into the incident.
