In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested a drug peddler involved in the illegal transportation and sale of MDMA. The raid, which took place on February 25 near Nehru Maidan in the Mangaluru South Police Station jurisdiction, resulted in the seizure of 27 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs1.35 lakh.

The accused, identified as Asif alias Achi (32), a resident of Subhash Nagar, Sajipa Mooda village in Bantwal taluk, was caught in the act of selling the contraband, which he had reportedly procured from Bengaluru. Asif had travelled by bus to Mangaluru to distribute the drug, targeting the public, including students. The total value of the confiscated MDMA is estimated at Rs1.45 lakh.

Further investigation revealed that Asif was part of a broader drug distribution network. He has a history of drug-related offenses, with three previous cases registered against him—two in Suratkal (2018), Vitla (2021), and Bantwal Town (2023). The police operation was conducted under the supervision of CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, with a team led by Inspector Rafiq K.M., PSI Sharanappa Bhandari, ASI Sujan Shetty, and other personnel.

Asif’s arrest is part of an ongoing investigation, and further arrests are expected as the authorities continue to probe the network.
