Mandya district police have arrested Rangegowda MV, a resident of Mudugere village in Halebeedu taluk, Hassan district, in connection with a series of house burglaries. The arrest has helped solve 10 burglary cases and recover approximately 490 grams of gold along with other stolen valuables worth around Rs 40 lakh.

At a press conference held at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office on Thursday, SP Mallikarjun Baladandi said a special investigation team was formed after a house burglary was reported on May 20 under Nagamangala Rural police station. The team arrested Rangegowda, a repeat offender known to target locked homes during the day.

The solved cases include three each under Bindiganavile and Bellur police station jurisdictions, and one each under Nagamangala Rural, Turuvekere, and Huliyuru police station limits. The police recovered the stolen gold ornaments and other valuables during the investigation.

SP Mallikarjun also emphasized the need to closely monitor individuals recently released from jail or out on bail to prevent repeat offenses. He announced plans to boost surveillance across Mandya district with the installation of more CCTV cameras at key junctions and public places. Notably, 100 CCTV cameras have already been installed in Mallavalli taluk alone.
