Winsford, Cheshire – Amanda Clare, a councillor for the Winsford Dene ward on Cheshire West and Chester Council, has been charged with assault and criminal damage following an incident at a local Pride event.

Commonly known as Mandy Clare, the 54-year-old Reform UK representative was arrested after police responded to reports of a disturbance at Winsford Pride around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Cheshire Police confirmed that Clare has been bailed and is scheduled to appear before magistrates in Crewe on Friday, 8 August.

In a joint statement, Cheshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service emphasized the need for a fair trial. “We would like to remind everyone that criminal proceedings against Clare are live and that she has a right to a fair trial,” the statement said.

They also warned against any online commentary or reporting that could prejudice the case: “It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice ongoing proceedings.”
