Punjab Police have arrested Mandeep Singh Dhillon, the husband of NRI woman Prabhjot Kaur, in connection with her murder in Amritsar. Dhillon, who was absconding, was apprehended from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan and produced before a local court, which remanded him to police custody for three days.
Prabhjot Kaur, a resident of Waraich village in Gurdaspur, had returned from Austria with her husband and their six-month-old son to attend a family function. The couple was staying at a hotel on Court Road when staff noticed prolonged inactivity in their room on January 11 and alerted the authorities.
Upon entering the room, police found Prabhjot’s body under a bed. Investigators stated she had been attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. Her family alleged that Dhillon committed the act due to suspicion regarding her character.
The case is being investigated as a domestic violence-related homicide, highlighting the tragic consequences of marital conflict and suspicions within a household.
