Mandawa Police Bust Cyber Fraud Gang, Arrest 13 Including Women

International Microsoft Scam Ring Dismantled in Mandawa

by Ananya Mehta

In a major breakthrough, Mandawa police, led by Dy SP Hari Singh Dhayal, dismantled an international cyber fraud operation on Monday, arresting 13 individuals—including three women—operating under the pretense of Microsoft customer support targeting American citizens.

The gang operated via an app called Micro Sip, impersonating Microsoft’s customer care from Washington. They tricked users experiencing tech issues into downloading malicious software, enabling them to hijack devices and steal personal data to commit cyber fraud.

Police raided a hotel on Fatehpur Road, Mandawa, where the gang was operating for about 15 days. Authorities seized 21 laptops, 21 mobile phones, and several internet routers as evidence.

The arrested suspects hail from multiple states: Akash VK, Ramesh Gurung, Mouse Chingra, and Jangminkhoy Dongal (Delhi); Kismat Gajner and Ashish Ojha (West Bengal); Monu Kumar (Uttar Pradesh); Amit Pol, Apsara Pradhan, and Jubelia (Manipur); Kushal Thapa (Meghalaya); Patrick Jonusanga (Mizoram); and Chijoteu Lechu (Nagaland).

Police are still pursuing two alleged masterminds behind the scam. Investigations continue to uncover the full scope and the number of victims affected. The accused are scheduled to be presented in court Tuesday.
