A man posing as an Intelligence Bureau (IB) official was apprehended on Sunday for allegedly duping four individuals into handing over Rs 20 lakh under the pretense of securing them jobs. Identified as Srinivas Kumar Choubey, the accused claimed to be a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the IB and promised to help the victims secure positions within the Finance Ministry and Jaipur Development Authority.
The victims, identified as Nitin Kumar, Akash Singh, Rahul Faujdar, and Jitendra Singh, filed a complaint at Airport Police Station on February 8, 2025. They accused Choubey of swindling a total of Rs 20 lakh through false job promises.
In response to the complaint, a police team, led by DCP (East) Tejaswini Gautam, conducted a raid at Kanha Residency near Ramnagariya Police Station. During the raid, the police seized several items, including a car displaying a ‘Government of India’ number plate, which was used by Choubey to further deceive his victims into believing his false claims.
Choubey has now been arrested, and investigations are underway to uncover further details about his fraudulent activities. The case highlights the growing trend of impersonation scams, with individuals taking advantage of people’s aspirations for government jobs.
