SOUTHAVEN, MS – Mario Kirkwood, the man accused of murdering his classmate just days after graduating high school in 2023, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed robbery charges. As part of his plea, Kirkwood was sentenced to 55 years in prison for the crime.
The murder took place shortly after the two young men had graduated, with the incident sending shockwaves through the community. On Thursday, in Desoto County court, Kirkwood admitted his role in the tragic death, bringing some measure of justice to the victim’s family.
