A man has been charged with the murder of two men following a fatal shooting in Wolverhampton.

Duaine Mills, 28, and Syed Zain Ali, 32, died after being shot on Leicester Street at around 3.10am on 19 September.

West Midlands Police confirmed that Mohammed Maneer Khan, 38, was arrested on Thursday and has now been charged with two counts of murder. He also faces charges of attempted murder, two firearms offences, and fraud by false representation.

Khan is due to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

A second man, Yaseen Patel, 34, from Birmingham, has also been charged with assisting an offender and is scheduled to appear at the same court.

Senior Investigating Officer Jenny Birch said the charges mark a significant development in the investigation. She added that officers continue to support the families of Duaine Mills and Syed Zain Ali and are keeping them updated on proceedings.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information relating to the shootings to come forward.
