Man Arrested in Hartford Murder Case

Xavier Soto charged in fatal shooting of Miguel Alfinez

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) — Police have arrested 34-year-old Xavier Soto of Vernon in connection with a murder that occurred last Friday in Hartford.

Soto faces charges including murder, criminal use of a firearm, risk of injury to a child, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The victim, 38-year-old Miguel Alfinez of Hartford, was found shot at 387 Broadview Terrace on September 12. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene divisions launched an investigation, which quickly identified Soto as a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, and Soto surrendered to police on the evening of September 16.

He is currently held on a $2 million bond.
