A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering 57-year-old Anita Rose, who was found unconscious after taking her dog for a walk in Suffolk.
On July 24, Rose left her home around 5 AM to walk her springer spaniel. She was discovered at approximately 6:25 AM lying on a track road near a sewage works and railway line in Brantham by a cyclist, who immediately called for medical assistance.
When responders arrived, they found Rose with her jacket removed, wearing only a bra on her upper body, and leggings and trainers on her lower half, with the dog’s lead wrapped around her leg. She was transported to the hospital but tragically passed away four days later. Thankfully, her dog was unharmed.
The 55-year-old suspect was arrested on Monday morning and is currently being questioned at the Martlesham police investigation center. Previously, three individuals had been arrested in connection with the case: a man in his 20s, a 45-year-old man on suspicion of murder, and a 37-year-old woman suspected of handling stolen goods. All three were subsequently released on bail.
Last month, Suffolk police released CCTV images of two potential witnesses they wished to speak with, clarifying that these individuals were not suspects but could aid the investigation. One of the witnesses has since been identified and is cooperating with officers, while efforts continue to identify the second individual.
The independent charity Crimestoppers has offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in Rose’s death.
