A man was arrested on Monday for stealing a police constable’s mobile phone at the Government Women’s Hospital in Barwani district headquarters. The complainant, Raju Dabar, who is posted in Mandla district, had come to the hospital for his wife Rekha Bai’s delivery. While resting in the hospital corridor on Sunday night, his phone was stolen by the accused.
The constable noticed his mobile phone missing early Monday morning and promptly filed a complaint. Acting on a tip-off that the accused was attempting to sell the stolen phone at a local shop, police rushed to the scene and apprehended Sunil Alave, a resident of Ghugsi village under Pati police station in Barwani district.
Police also noted that Alave is a habitual offender involved in petty thefts. The stolen mobile phone was recovered and seized as evidence.
