Man Arrested for Murder in 2022 Shooting of Fredrick Harris

Joseph Jacobs, 31, faces second-degree murder charge in Baton Rouge homicide

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred nearly three years ago in Baton Rouge. Joseph Jacobs, 31, has been charged with second-degree murder following the fatal shooting of Fredrick Harris, 21, on Birch Street near Scenic Highway in March 2022.

Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of a shooting and found Harris with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Through their investigation, officers were able to identify Jacobs as a suspect.

Jacobs, who has a long criminal history dating back to 2010, has previously been arrested on narcotics and gun charges. He is now being held at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the second-degree murder charge.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
