In a significant arrest, the Maninagar police apprehended a man accused of impersonating a police officer and deputy mamlatdar. The man, identified as Kiritkumar Amin, used fraudulent identities to threaten and deceive people for personal gain.
The police were tipped off about a suspect claiming to be a cop and staying at a luxury hotel in Maninagar. He was seen riding a two-wheeler towards Kankaria when the police intercepted him and found three fake identification cards. These IDs falsely identified him as a head constable, a PSI in the Zone-5 DCP squad, and a deputy mamlatdar executive magistrate.
A further search also led to the recovery of another forged ID card bearing the DCP’s signature and stamp, which Amin had used to avoid paying toll taxes. The investigation revealed that Amin had a history of crime, with four previous cases of cheating and similar fake police impersonations.
Kiritkumar Amin is now in police custody, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of his fraudulent activities.
