MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) — A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a woman inside a nail salon in Midtown Manhattan, according to the NYPD.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Monday, September 6, at a salon located near West 36th Street and Broadway.
Authorities say the suspect, identified as Joseph Wichard, sexually assaulted and bit a 34-year-old woman while attempting to rape her.
The victim managed to fight off the attacker and was later transported to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Wichard was arrested the same day and charged with attempted rape and sexual abuse, police said.
