BANGOR, Maine – Police have arrested a 50-year-old man after he allegedly broke into an apartment, unwrapped Christmas presents, and fell asleep on the couch.
The incident occurred on Sunday, Nov. 23, when the tenant discovered Jose Harvey asleep on their couch and called authorities around 8:40 a.m., according to PEOPLE.
Officers reported that Harvey could not provide a logical explanation for being inside the apartment. The tenant said all doors were locked, but the bathroom window was open, which may have provided entry.
Harvey was taken into custody and charged with aggravated criminal trespass.
The Bangor Police Department commented on the unusual arrest via Facebook:
“Surprises like this don’t put any of us in a festive mood, but even the Grinch figured out the chimney is always an option.”
