NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man has been arrested in Nashville after allegedly attempting to steal a pendant from a jewelry store in Hillsboro Village on Friday. Patrick Joshua Calvo, the suspect, reportedly tried to conceal the pendant by slipping it up his sleeve. However, the store staff quickly noticed his actions.
To prevent Calvo from leaving, the employees locked the door, which triggered a more dangerous escalation. According to an arrest affidavit, Calvo then drew a gun, pointed it at the manager’s head, and threatened the staff. In a brave move, one of the employees approached from behind, subdued Calvo, and managed to disarm him before the police arrived.
Calvo has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted theft of an item valued over $2,500. Additionally, police revealed that the gun used in the incident was stolen, leading to a charge of theft of a firearm. The arresting officers also found Calvo in possession of a $95 watch band, which led to further charges of attempted theft of an item valued under $1,000.
In a surprising twist, authorities discovered that Calvo arrived in a U-Haul vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, they found cocaine and fentanyl, leading to charges of drug possession and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
During his arrest, Calvo allegedly threatened officers as he was being transported to booking.
