SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas – A 22-year-old Sulphur Springs man has been arrested after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and a stolen firearm.
On March 19, 2025, officers with the Sulphur Springs Police Department conducted a traffic stop near East Shannon Road due to a moving violation. During the stop, officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, prompting a search.
Officers found drug paraphernalia in plain view, as well as a bag containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana. In addition, a plastic bag containing four unidentified pills, suspected to be MDMA, was located. The seized pills were later field-tested and confirmed to be MDMA, weighing approximately 2.1 grams.
Further investigation revealed a stolen firearm inside the vehicle. A check with Sulphur Springs communications confirmed the firearm had been reported stolen from Dallas.
