A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that left one person injured in Elizabeth City on February 8. Malik Latrell Harrell of Elizabeth City was taken into custody on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was given a $150,000 secured bond and is currently held at the Albemarle District Jail.
At approximately 11:31 p.m. on February 8, Elizabeth City Police responded to the 700 block of Southern Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 39-year-old Dominic Townes from Walkers Avenue, who had been shot twice. Townes was transported to the hospital with injuries.
After an investigation, Harrell was identified as the suspect and arrested. His first court appearance is scheduled for February 27, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in Pasquotank County District Court.
