MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Two 18-year-olds, Malik Jacari Crossley and Corey Lanard Hayes Jr., have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last month at General Smoke Shop in Miami-Dade’s Gladeview neighborhood.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place around 7 p.m. on July 6 at the shop located at 2975 NW 62nd Street.
Authorities report that Hayes drove a blue Honda Accord with Crossley and a third, unidentified suspect to a nearby church. Hayes entered the store to make a purchase, allegedly to scout the location, before returning to the vehicle.
Shortly afterward, Crossley and the third suspect entered the smoke shop armed with handguns and demanded cash and products. The suspects then forced a store employee to the back of the business at gunpoint while they searched for valuables.
Hayes reportedly reentered the store and took a backpack containing approximately $300 in cash. Meanwhile, Crossley pointed a firearm at the employee, and the group took CBD products and grinders from the counter before fleeing the scene.
Surveillance footage captured the entire robbery, helping investigators identify the suspects. Both Crossley and Hayes were later apprehended and are now being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
