Malcolm Xavier Walker Charged Again for Recruiting Scam

Accused of Defrauding Families With Fake Football Promises

ATLANTA, GA / YORK COUNTY, VA — Malcolm Xavier Walker, 40, is once again facing serious charges for allegedly running a fake college football recruiting scheme that defrauded families out of tens of thousands of dollars.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, Walker was arrested on July 31 in Virginia after allegedly convincing a parent to pay him over $20,000 for recruiting services that were never delivered. He reportedly promised to arrange college campus visits, create highlight reels, and secure scholarships for the victim’s son. Authorities say Walker stopped responding after receiving the payment.

This marks the second known case against Walker in 2025. In March, police in Gainesville, Georgia, charged him with theft by deception. A local coach, Phyllip Becoats, hired Walker to help promote a student-athlete from Gainesville High School. After creating a highlight video and claiming to organize a visit to the University of Colorado—requesting over $1,000 for travel expenses—Walker allegedly vanished without following through.

“He talks the talk, but, unfortunately, that’s all he’s got going for him,” said Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook. “He’s just stealing these people’s money and leaving them with absolutely nothing.”

Investigators believe Walker has used the same tactics across Georgia and multiple East Coast states. He reportedly posed as a credible recruiter, leveraged a large social media following, and preyed on families desperate for college opportunities for their children.

Authorities are now encouraging any additional victims to come forward. Walker was transferred from Georgia to Virginia to face the latest charges, with the investigation continuing across several jurisdictions.
