A Malcolm couple, Jesse and Krysta McIntire, were arrested this week in connection with several criminal activities in the Lincoln area. The pair appeared in court on Wednesday facing charges of felony theft, second-degree forgery, and possession of a controlled substance.
The couple’s crime spree reportedly began in January or February, when they stole Menards rebates from a Malcolm man. According to court documents, surveillance footage from February 21 and 22 shows the McIntires redeeming nearly $4,000 in rebates at Menards stores in Lincoln.
The McIntires’ crime spree escalated in mid-March when they allegedly broke into Elway Powersports on 27th Street and Fletcher Avenue. Surveillance video captured them using a sledgehammer to smash a glass door, after which two individuals stole two Yamaha dirt bikes, each worth over $8,000.
On Tuesday, authorities arrested the McIntires after they were found in possession of one of the stolen dirt bikes in their truck. During the search, police also found a methamphetamine residue pipe and brass knuckles. Since Jesse McIntire is a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing deadly weapons.
Krysta McIntire, 31, is also facing a burglary charge linked to an October break-in at a storage unit. The couple is due back in court on May 7.
