TORONTO – An 18-year-old Toronto man and two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with a series of robberies across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), York Regional Police confirmed.

Malak Rawlins, 18, along with two 16-year-old males (whose names are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act), now face multiple charges including robbery, auto theft, and weapons-related offenses.

Attempted Robbery Sparks Investigation
The investigation began on June 23, 2025, when police responded to a jewellery store robbery attempt near Highway 7 and McCowan Road around 5:30 p.m.

Police say three masked suspects carrying hammers approached the store, attempting to break in. One suspect tried to force entry but failed. They fled the scene on foot, along with two additional suspects.

Arrests and Search Uncover Evidence
On July 9, two suspects were arrested by Toronto Police during an unrelated incident. This arrest led York Regional Police to execute a search warrant at a Toronto residence.

During the search, officers arrested a third suspect and recovered stolen property, a replica firearm, and the hammers allegedly used in the robbery attempts.

Investigators have now connected the trio to multiple GTA robberies, including home and commercial thefts.

All three suspects face the following charges:

Robbery

Weapons Dangerous to the Public Peace

Possession of Stolen Property

Auto Theft

They remain in custody as the investigation continues.
