CEDAR RAPIDS — Makaylee Dwyer, 24, and Katelyn Hauser, 16, both of Marion, were arrested this week after authorities say they forced their way into a Cedar Rapids apartment, where a teen allegedly stabbed a resident in the chest.
According to criminal complaints, the incident occurred Thursday in the 4000 block of Rushmore Drive NE in Cedar Rapids. Investigators allege Dwyer and Hauser entered the apartment without permission after previously communicating with a woman inside and telling her they intended to fight.
Once inside, the pair allegedly assaulted the woman by punching her. Authorities say Hauser then stabbed the victim in the chest with a kitchen knife she had brought from home, causing what court documents describe as a “deep laceration.”
Court records also allege Hauser sent Dwyer a voice message prior to the break-in, stating she intended to kill someone. She is further accused of slashing the tires of a vehicle belonging to another person inside the apartment.
Dwyer faces charges of first-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, and general assault. Hauser is charged with first-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, going armed with intent, willful injury resulting in bodily injury, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Both made their initial court appearances Friday. Hauser is being held on a $15,000 bond, while Dwyer is being held on a $10,000 bond.
