by Sophia Bennett

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. — A 32-year-old mover, identified as Makale Winfield, has been arrested for allegedly stealing $29,000 worth of jewelry from a Paradise Valley residence on Sept. 15, police announced.

According to the Paradise Valley Police Department, the homeowner discovered the jewelry missing shortly after a moving company had been working inside the home near Invergordon Road and Bar Z Lane.

Investigators said Winfield later sold three rings matching the stolen jewelry at a Phoenix pawn shop the same day, around 6:16 p.m. Evidence, including cell phone location data, placed him both at the home and the pawn shop.

Police said Winfield admitted to the theft during questioning. He now faces felony theft and trafficking in stolen property charges and is being held at the Maricopa County Jail.

Authorities reminded residents to secure valuables during home services and to report suspicious activity immediately.
