In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Majitha police arrested four individuals and seized 100 grams of heroin. The accused have been identified as Manish Kumar alias Mannu, Vikrant of Majitha, and Harpreet Singh alias Happy, along with Sajandeep Singh from Khasa Patti, Majitha.
DSP Majitha, Pawan Kumar, said Manish and Vikrant were initially arrested on Kathunangal Road in Majitha with the heroin in their possession. Based on their interrogation, police subsequently arrested Harpreet and Sajandeep.
All four accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities are now working to uncover the full extent of the network, focusing on both backward and forward linkages in the drug trade.
In a separate incident, the Mattewal police arrested Mehakpreet Singh of Kaler Bala village for illegal possession of a .32 bore country-made pistol and two live rounds. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted him near a village drain and recovered the weapon. A case has been registered under the Arms Act, and investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the firearm.
