The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against six individuals for their alleged involvement in tampering with official documents submitted before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in Srinagar.

Officials confirmed that the chargesheet, filed under multiple IPC sections, names Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Mudasir Yousuf Wani, Ghulam Mohammad Reshi, Bashir Ahmad Dar—all from Sopore in Baramulla district—and Anoop Mishra, a resident of Uttar Pradesh currently staying in Jammu.

The case originated from a communication reporting suspicious alterations in records submitted by the Office of the Chief Horticulture Officer. Investigation revealed that official documents were unlawfully modified while in CAT custody.

According to Crime Branch officials, prime accused Majid Ahmad Khan, in conspiracy with CAT employee Anoop Mishra and others, inserted unauthorized details in documents related to their regularisation in the Horticulture Department.

Investigators recovered at least 12 forged or misused official seals, belonging to departments such as the Directorate of Horticulture, BDO office, Tehsildar office, and Zonal Education Office, from Khan’s residence. Call detail records and WhatsApp chats retrieved from Khan’s phone further established coordination between him and Mishra.

The chargesheet has been submitted to the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, for judicial review.
