Mahesh Gupta Arrested for Stealing Iron Barricades in Mumbai

21-year-old held in connection with BMC construction theft

The Matunga Police in Mumbai have apprehended Mahesh Surendra Prasad Gupta, a 21-year-old resident of Khadavali, Kalyan, for his involvement in the theft of iron barricades from a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) road construction site located in Parsi Colony. The theft occurred about a month ago, and after an extensive investigation, Gupta was tracked down with the aid of technical surveillance and tip-offs from informants.

Gupta was arrested on February 19, with further inquiries revealing his involvement in multiple theft cases. His confession led to the recovery of 23 stolen iron barricades worth Rs69,000 and four mobile phones, valued at Rs63,547.

The theft was registered under Section 303(2) of the BNS, and Gupta is currently in police custody until February 24. Authorities are continuing their investigation into his criminal activities.

The police are working to uncover more details as they progress with the investigation into Gupta’s other criminal involvements.
