A 27-year-old worker, Asaram Rakesh, has been arrested in Palghar, Maharashtra, for allegedly killing his colleague and dumping the body in a water tank on company premises, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday at an industrial estate in Vasai. According to authorities, the accused had a dispute with his colleague Rakesh Singh. He allegedly attacked Singh with an iron rod, striking him on the head, before disposing of the body in the company’s water tank.
Co-workers soon discovered the attack and alerted the victim’s family and police. The body was recovered from the tank and sent for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the crime.
Police stated that Asaram Rakesh was apprehended within hours of the incident, and further inquiries are underway.
