The Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) of Madurai city police arrested four individuals on Monday and seized 26 kilograms of ganja along with two four-wheelers during a crackdown near West Avani Moola Street Main Road, under the jurisdiction of Thilagarthidal police station.
Acting on a tip-off, the PEW team apprehended suspects near a tea shop who were allegedly involved in selling ganja. The arrested persons are identified as M Ajithkumar (29) from K Pudur, M Sabarairaj (35) from Aalavanthan Gandhi Nagar, and K Vivek (30) and R Balanatesh (24) from Melur.
Police seized 26 kg of ganja packed in a white sack, along with an SUV, an MUV, and four mobile phones from the accused. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and remanded to judicial custody.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details related to the drug trafficking network.
