A joint operation by the Special Operation Group (SOG), surveillance cell, and Colonelganj Police led to the arrest of three key members of a Madhya Pradesh-based burglars’ gang near the IERT trisection road while they were allegedly planning to escape from the city.
The arrested were identified as:
Romi Singh Narang (31), resident of Dhar, MP
Raj Singh (20), resident of Dhar, MP
Jaspal Singh (38), resident of Dhar, MP
Police recovered stolen jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees, mobile phones, cash, and other valuables from the accused.
According to officials, the gang targeted houses under the pretext of repairing locks of almirahs and boxes, stealing valuables during such visits. On July 30, PN Goswami of Colonelganj filed a complaint stating that an unknown man had entered his house under the guise of repairing an almirah and stolen gold and silver ornaments. Following this, an FIR was registered under Section 305(A) of BNS.
The burglars confessed that they kept moving across states to evade police detection and targeted far-flung areas to avoid suspicion.
Police are continuing the investigation to determine the full extent of the gang’s operations and recover additional stolen property.
