In a significant drug bust, Panchkula police arrested Madal Lal, a resident of Raipur Rani, and seized 310 grams of opium from his possession. The arrest followed a tip-off that a youth involved in drug peddling was set to deliver opium near the Sarkarpur turn, close to Wazidpur Road. Acting swiftly, the police conducted a raid and detained the accused.
During questioning, Madal Lal was unable to produce any legal documentation for the possession of the contraband. As a result, he has been booked under Section 18 of the NDPS Act at Raipur Rani Police Station. Police Commissioner Rakesh Kumar Arya emphasized his commitment to eradicating drug abuse in the district and reinforced strict directives to tackle the menace. As part of the ongoing campaign ‘Drug and Violence-Free—My Village, My Pride’, the police are conducting awareness drives to involve the community in combating drug-related issues.
In a separate operation, the police also arrested Manoj (33) from Moradabad and Rajkumar Yadav (18) from Pratapgarh, UP, who were involved in a bike-snatching incident. The arrests were made near Labour Chowk, Sector 16, after a stolen motorbike was recovered from their possession.
The bike-snatching case dates back to March 29, when Mukesh Kumar of Abheypur reported being assaulted by three men near a liquor shop in Sector 15, Panchkula. The assailants stole his beer, motorbike, and belongings. Following the complaint, the police booked the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector 14 Police Station. Both individuals have been sent to judicial custody.
