MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. — Three individuals now face newly filed charges in connection with the Oct. 14 shooting of businessman Eddie Jawad at his Macomb Township home, an incident authorities have classified as attempted murder.
Rachard Huffman, 39, and Dawn Huffman, 44, both from Sterling Heights, were arraigned Monday in 41-A District Court in Shelby Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
Jawad was shot while driving his vehicle out of his garage on 24 Mile Road. Investigators said the shooter had hidden under a vehicle in the driveway before emerging and firing multiple gunshots. The suspect then ran to a vehicle and fled the scene.
Charges and Bond:
Rachard Huffman: Charged with conspiracy to commit premeditated murder in the first degree (a life felony) and conspiracy to commit embezzlement (five-year felony). Bond: $1 million.
Dawn Huffman: Charged with embezzlement of $100,000 (20-year felony) and conspiracy to commit embezzlement. Bond: $500,000.
Jasan Delanta Martin, 32: Received an additional charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. He was previously arraigned on six charges, including assault with intent to murder and weapons violations.
Jawad’s injuries were reported as non-life-threatening, but the sheriff’s office confirmed the shooting is considered an attempted murder.
Jawad owns multiple gas stations across Metro Detroit, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
